We Can Help Today!

Express Crayford glazing experts offer a variety of safety glass services including toughened glass installations and replacements. Toughened glass will usually shatter into small fragments instead of sharp shards when broken, making it less likely to cause severe injury and deep lacerations. This is particularly useful for certain frames such as cat flaps, glass doors and tables.

Our Crayford toughened glass normally takes three to five working days to order in for both single and double-glazed options. This glass is recommended for Crayford residential customers, as the glass shatters into relatively harmless fragments upon impact, as opposed to the larger, more dangerous shards caused by breakage of normal glass. However, due to the security risk of having a large hole when the glass has been shattered, we do not recommend this for our Crayford commercial customers, whom we offer laminate glass to instead.

Example Of Our Glass Services

Annealing
Annealing is a process employed when double glazed units are manufacturered. The glass panel is heated in such a way so that the entire pane has a uniform temperature. The temperature is then held steady for long enough to remove all internal stresses introduced by the formation of the glass while it was in it's molten state. The glass is then slowly cooled. This process has several benefits for the glass. If the stresses are not removed, this can cause fractures later on from slight impacts, or sizeable changes to temperature. The optical properties of the glass are also improved.
